Program

CFA is shorthand for Chartered Financial Analyst. CFA is a registered trademark of the CFA Institute (CFAI) and its use is subject to the terms and conditions of the CFAI, after the successful attainment of the charter.

U.S CFA is divided in to 3 levels. Each level must be taken consecutively. A candidate cannot sit for Level two until they have passed CFA Level one. If any Exam is failed, that level must be repeated before the candidate can move on.

Given the right experience and a college degree, a CFA charter takes a minimum of 2.5 years.

Level 1 is offered in June and December. Level 2 and 3 are offered in June only. Exams are given at select worldwide locations.

A candidate has to meet the following 5 requirements in order to obtain the CFA charter:
  • Pass the three CFA exams - Levels 1, 2 and 3 in that order
  • Document at least 3 years' work experience in the investment industry with participation in the decision making process (does not mean that you made decisions - the key word is "process")
  • Join the CFA Institute as a member, provide sponsorship forms, sign the professional conduct statement, sign the terms & conditions, and display a high level of ethical and professional conduct
  • Apply for membership in a CFA Institute Society
  • Comply with the policies and requirements of the CFA Institute after becoming a charterholder
The first two requirements are the most time consuming and challenging for CFA candidates. The necessary work experience can be accrued while one is taking the three CFA exams. A person does not need to have the requisite 3 years' experience to become a CFA candidate. In addition, a charterholder needs to have a college degree (or be working towards it as a candidate) and be ready to do "masters" level work while enrolled in the CFA program

The Chartered Financial Analyst designation has become a very popular and important educational certification. More finance related companies are requiring this designation than ever before. Gain an advantage over other job candidates, by getting your CFA charter.
